ST. ALCUIN HOUSE THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

For 28 years St. Alcuin House has offered educational programs associated with several resources including Ligonier Ministries, The Teaching Company and major research libraries in North America and the United Kingdom. Our focus is research combined with occasional class work. Philosophically, we are in tune with The Tutorial Method which has been used at Oxford for more than 500 years. It is a rigorous, individualized method of learning and is designed with the adult student in mind. Each student has an academic tutor (a Fellow or Professor). The Oxford model emphasizes thinking through a research project and writing. Students are responsible for planning their own time ensuring the requisite work is accomplished.

One of the best places for your church may be your own home. After all, homes are where most of the churches in the days of the New Testament met for worship, fellowship, teaching, and ministry. Led by laypersons like us, they were powerful—and changed their world by meeting God at home.

Churches that meet in homes are booming around the world. No wonder! They fill a room and then grow by starting another similar church. They are simple to begin and to function. They never have to worry about buildings, salaries, maintenance, or complicated organizations. And anyone can do it. We are!! You can, too.

PRAYER OF THE NIGHT’S WATCH

I am a brother of the Night’s Watch.

I am a servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus, the Christ.

I stand as a beacon of light in the gathering darkness.

To stand watch over all of God’s creation.

I am called to protect and serve, and to obey the living Christ 

I commit myself to live a righteous life,

a life that honors Christ in thought, word and deed.

I profess that I love the Lord my God with all my heart,

with all my soul, with all my mind and with all my strength,

and that I am to Love my Neighbor as myself.

I believe in the sanctity of the 10 commandments and profess obedience to the same:

                1   I believe in the Lord my God and shall not have other gods besides Him.

                2   I shalt not make for myself any graven image.

                3   I shalt not take the name of the Lord my God in vain.

                4   I will remember the Lord's Day and keep it holy.

                5   I will Honor my Father and Mother.

                6   I shalt not kill.

                7   I shalt not commit adultery.

                8   I shalt not steal.

                9   I shalt not bear false witness against my neighbor.

              10   I shalt not covet.                           

Please Oh Lord, nurture me in Spirit and in faith, and to see your will above all others.

Let me be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Putting on the whole armor of God, that I may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For I do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore I take up the whole armor of God that I may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

I stand therefore, having girded my waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  above all, taking the shield of faith with which I will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And I take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the body of Christ
